Primavera Sound was born in Barcelona and now the beloved music festival is coming to Los Angeles State Historic Park. Primavera Sound Los Angeles has unveiled a full preview of the immersive elements that will firmly anchor the September 16-18 event in the cultural fabric of its venue. Primavera Sound will feature 65 artists performing on four stages over three days. The stages are aptly named Primavera Stage, Tecate Alta Stage, Barcelona Stage and Smirnoff Ice Stage.

Foodie friends of Primavera in Los Angeles can rejoice (calling all our Dinner Diaries fans) the festival has officially partnered with Smorgasburg, America’s largest outdoor food market and one of the largest champions of the city’s independent culinary scene. Since 2016, Smorgasburg has taken over an industrial part of downtown Los Angeles on Sundays to showcase the area’s best cuisine. Their lineup of hand-selected vendors for Primavera Los Angeles includes fried dumplings from Mao’s Baos, Asian-influenced Texan BBQ from Smoke Queen BBQ, chicken wings from a former chef’s Jon & Vinny from Two Wings , grilled cheese sandwiches and raclette from Cheezus, and plant-based Mexican delights from Cena Vegas.

The festival also hosts one of Los Angeles’ most famous outposts for music discovery, KCRW, in partnership with Beat Swap Meets, as curators of Primavera’s official vinyl marketplace. Over the three days, the fair will give fans the chance to rummage through the crates of LA’s top collectors like Driptone Records and Vinyl Obsessions. It’s expected to be a large, expansive space that will also feature record signing artists as well as surprise vinyl selections. More details about this will be sent to participants before the festival.

The festival’s main lineup is led by Arctic Monkeys, reactivated as the new classics they already are, the eternally forward-thinking Nine Inch Nails and Lorde as a generational pop icon after returning with Solar Power. We also find at the festival the contemporary crooner James Blake, the triumphant return of Mitski, Arca, the groove nomads Khruangbin, the muscle house of BICEP, Clairo, Darkside, King Krule or Low, once again visionaries with their recent HEY WHAT, and plus 50 other artists.

Additionally, as a nod to its roots in Barcelona, Primavera In The City also offers an additional program to the main festival experience and a chance to see Primavera perform at venues throughout the city such as the Hollywood Forever Cemetery, The Echo and Hollywood Palladium. Performing artists for these urban shows will include New Orleans punk band Special Interest, Canadian ambient electronics producer Tim Hecker, French live performance extraordinaire Jehnny Beth, who also performs with the bands John & Jehn and Savages, and a double-booking featuring the Mexico City of band Little Jesus and Colombian-American rock band Divino Niño. You can also expect performances from Nicolas Jaar and Dave Harrington’s Darkside project, Swedish experiential collective Drain Gang (Bladee, Thaiboy Digital Ecco2K, Whitearmor) and iconic London avant-pop band Stereolab. These will be complemented by performances by Los Angeles R&B singer Giveon, award-winning Spanish singer and songwriter Bad Gyal and Japanese rock band Cha.
